The Court has today rejected BirdLife Malta’s request for the issuance of the Prohibition Mandate not to open spring hunting for Turtle-dove, the Government said.
The Ministry for Gozo and Planning therefore announced that accordingly, the Legal Notice declaring the Turtle-dove hunting season open from the 17th to the 30th of April, from two hours before sunrise. to noon during all days of the season, with a national quota of 1,500 birds, should be published
The Ministry also confirmed that the quail hunting season opens tomorrow, Wednesday, the 10th of April, and will remain open until Tuesday, the 30th of April, from two hours before sunrise to noon during all days of the season.
This is after the publication today in relation to the Special Hunting License in Spring 2024, Legal Notice 85/2024, declaring the same.
The Ministry stated that “every quail that is hunted must be reported immediately and anyone who goes out hunting and does not catch anything must report the hunting effort, as explained in the Special Licence.”
The national quota is 2,400 quails. There are no individual quotas.
