Inflation as measured by the RPI down in March to 1.9%National Statistics Office data released today, show that in March, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the RPI was 1.9%, down from 2.3% in February.

The largest contribution to the annual inflation was measured in the Food Index (+1.10 percentage points), once again largely due to the higher prices of take-aways.

The largest downward contribution was recorded in the Transport and Communication Index (-0.58 percentage points), mainly reflecting the lower prices of mobile phone services, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for March stood at 4.0 per cent.
