This week, the Victoria Local Council welcomed the Minister for Local Government and Public Works, Alison Zerafa Civelli, for a meeting at the Banca Giuratale.

Mayor of Victoria Brian Azzopardi said ”we had a truly interesting and constructive discussion on various matters directly related to the work of the Victoria Local Council.”

He added that during the meeting, the Minister expressed her concrete support for the work of the Council, particularly in view of the financial and logistical challenges the Council is facing as a result of the additional commitments and responsibilities associated with Victoria’s journey towards becoming the European Capital of Culture 2031.

”These challenges are increasingly being felt in the Council’s limited finances and resources. Therefore, the Government’s support and collaboration are essential to enable us to continue delivering our work and ensure that Victoria is best prepared for this historic opportunity for the whole of Gozo,” The Victoria Mayor said.

On behalf of the Council, Mayor Azzopardi thanked the Minister for the meeting and for her commitment to supporting us throughout this process.”’
