The National Blood Transfusion Service expressed its thanks to everyone who donated blood in Gozo during the month of April.
The need for blood is constant and the National Blood Transfusion service said that with each donation you can help save up to 3 lives.
The Service is, as always urging Gozitans to show their solidarity and please support sick patients in the hospitals of Gozo and Malta by making a donation on one of the four dates that are shown below during April, the first one being Sunday, the 5th of May.
All blood components have a definite shelf-life and can’t be stockpiled, which is why continuous donations are required.
Red cell concentrates are stored for up to 42 days; fresh frozen plasma for 3 years, and platelets for only 5 days.
Please keep the blood supply stable by committing to becoming a regular donor.
