Earlier this morning, the Armed Forces of Malta received a 112 call, as two people found themselves in difficulties at sea, at Wied iz-Zurrieq, and needed assistance.

The Malta Rescue Coordination Centre said it immediately dispatched an Armed Forces of Malta helicopter and successfully rescued the persons.

They were safely handed over to medical staff for further attention.

The Armed Forces of Malta urged the public to ensure their safety and follow any weather warnings issued.
