Din l-Art Helwa, Malta’s national trust, has received the patronage of President Myriam Spiteri Debono, creating an unbroken tradition that started decades ago.

When DLH was founded in 1965, then Governor-General of Malta H.E. Sir Maurice Dorman accepted to become its patron. He was followed in 1971 by Sir Anthony Mamo, who was the last Governor-General and remained the DLH patron when he became the first President of the Republic in 1974.

Subsequent Presidents of the Republic all accepted to become patrons of DLH.

A delegation from DLH, led by its executive president Patrick Calleja, paid a courtesy visit to the President at San Anton Palace this week.

Perit Calleja took the opportunity to reassure her that the NGO, which celebrates its 60th anniversary next year, would continue to work in line with its mission, “to safeguard Malta’s cultural heritage and the natural environment for future generations, which includes the hands-on conservation and restoration of our built and natural heritage.”
