Residents at Casa Leone XIII, a Church Home for the Elderly, are benefiting from improved level of security and care with the provision of a new Nurse Call Alarm System. Vodafone Malta Foundation donated the amount of €16,900 for the purchase of this equipment.

Josephine Mercieca, Administrator at Casa Leone, said that the new Nurse Call Alarm System has made an incredible difference in the home, not only in the quality of care given to the residents, but also in the level of security and safety they feel.

“When our residents need help or have a question for the nurse, they have an easily accessible and reliable way to call for assistance. They feel so much more at peace now because even if they are in the bathroom, they need only to push a button which is readily available, and help arrives right away.”

“And as those responsible for their care, we also are happy to know that if someone responds to a call for assistance and finds that more help is needed, the caregiver will be able to easily summon her colleague without leaving the resident alone. The alert can only be turned off from the resident’s bed side,” concluded Ms Mercieca.

Mrs Gemma Mifsud Bonnici, Chairperson of the Vodafone Malta Foundation said the Foundation was proud to be instrumental towards such a humane cause, a gesture that falls within the Foundation’s mission statement of supporting local communities in which Vodafone customers, employees, investors, partners and suppliers live, among other aims.
