The Malta Institute of Management (MIM) is organising two seminars on Thursday, the 5th of November 2009 at the Radisson SAS Baypoint, St Julians discussing Risk Management between 8.30am and 11am and Internal Audit between 5pm and 7.15pm.
The Malta Institute of Management has highlighted the importance of risk management over the years and has delivered various activities in this respect. Risk Management is essential to organizations and should be an integral part of decision making. This year’s seminar will focus on Risk Management post the Global Financial Crisis.
The subject of Internal auditing, designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a company’s internal control system, is relatively new especially in Malta. Perhaps the most familiar type of auditing is the administrative audit, or pre-audit, in which individual vouchers, invoices, or other documents are reviewed for accuracy and proper authorization before they are paid or entered in the books. The MIM has felt the need to disseminate further information on adopting a Risk-Based approach to Internal Audit. Key stakeholders in a business now expect more from their internal audit function. In particular, internal auditors need to focus on the issues that really matter to their organisation and demonstrate the value they provide. This seminar will review what real risk-based internal audit (RBIA) is and how to develop such an approach.
The seminars have been accredited with 1.5 hours of structured CPE and qualify for the attainment of Professional Competencies in terms of the MIA CPE Regulations. Both these seminars are being held in co-operation with various organizations including MIM’s collaborating partners AirMalta, BOV and Business Today, and are sponsored by Erremme Business Advisors and Protiviti.
A certificate of attendance will be awarded to the participants. The full programme, more information about this seminar and application forms are available at MIM website www.maltamanagement.com (News and Events Section). Application process is done strictly online. One is kindly reminded to read the instructions when filling in the application form.
