The Government has said that more payments are to be made to the parents of students who have continued to study after secondary education.

The Ministry for Social Policy said that by the end of this week allowance payments will be made for students who continue to study after secondary education, with another 574 families being paid with an investment of €290,000.

This number of families that have benefited so far has exceeded 10,000 while the number of eligible students has reached 11,000, the Ministry said. ”On this benefit alone, €5.5 million have been invested so far.

Families that are being paid this weekend include those whose children study in private or foreign educational institutions and others that had not been paid in May because required information about them was not updated, the Ministry said.

It added that there are still 472 other cases that are being vetted where a comparison is being made between the data of the Department of Education and that of Social Security.

The Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights stated that it is ”making every effort to conclude this process in the shortest possible time.”
