Opera season is about to get under underway on Gozo and the Ministry for Gozo and Planning said it has prepared a programme of events related to opera which will take place throughout the month of October, welcomed by the many opera enthusiasts.

During a visit to the main theatres in Victoria, the Minister said that “Opera in Gozo is associated with beautiful scenery and costumes produced locally by many Gozitan artists, tailors and volunteers. A work that reflects the love and passion these volunteers have for this style of music.”

The main attractions linked to this year’s programme are Il Trittico by Giacomo Puccini and Giovanna d’Arco by Giuseppe Verdi. Il Trittico will be staged at the Aurora Opera Theatre on the 12th of October, a trio of one-act operas. While Giovanna d’Arco will be performed at Astra Theatre on the 24th and 26th of October, and will mark its return to audiences after more than 170 years, when it was performed for the first and last time in ‘Malta, at the Royal Opera House, in 1852.
