An urgent call for donations of A+ and O+ blood groups has been issued by the National Blood Transfusion Service, other blood groups are also needed to ensure stable stock amounts.

The Service urges Gozitans to show their solidarity and please support sick patients in the hospitals of Gozo and Malta by making a donation on one of the five dates that are shown below during October, the first one, as already advised, being Tuesday, the 1st of October.

Please help keep the blood supply stable by committing to becoming a regular donor.

The NBTS also advised that is has updated the donor eligibility guidelines removing restrictions on a number of medications. For more information on donor eligibility please call on 22066201 or 79307307 or on free phone 80074313.

Donations can be made at the District Health Centre in Xewkija, located in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club:

Sundays – last registration 1:00pm

6th of October from 8:00am-1:00pm

20th of October from 8:00am-1:00pm

Tuesdays – last registration 5:00pm

1st of October 1:00pm to 5:00pm

15th of October 1:00pm to 5:00pm

29th of October 1:00pm to 5:00pm

Important notes from the National Blood Transfusion Service

• Bring your Maltese ID Card, driving licence or passport.

• Drink some water before your donation.

• Wear loose fitting clothes/sleeves.
