“We want not only to increase wealth for Gozitans within Gozo itself but also to ensure that the wealth created flows towards Malta as well.”

This was the message from the Leader of the Nationalist Party, Bernard Grech, as he led a Party delegation in a meeting with the Gozo Business Chamber in preparation for the 2025 Budget.

The Leader of the PN stated that “we must ensure that Gozo grows, with the fruits of the hard work being enjoyed by everyone.” He added that this is why next year’s Budget should not just be a routine process of refinement, but rather a forward-looking vision.

The Gozo Business Chamber speakers said that the document they are presenting includes proposals with a forward-looking plan, as they noted that “the island of Gozo has deteriorated, particularly in terms of governance.”

While questioning the direction PN wanted to take Gozo, they stated that “the Gozo Business Chamber believes Gozo should be considered a contributor to the country’s economy.”

The speakers noted that Gozo faces challenges that need to be addressed, particularly in the social sector and infrastructure, issues that did not exist previously on the island.

However, despite all this, the GBC felt that “in certain decisions, the Government lacks the necessary political will and is instead focused on poor priorities.”

During the meeting, the Leader of the Nationalist Party was accompanied by Shadow Ministers Graham Bencini, Alex Borg, Ivan Castillo, and Rebekah Borg.
