A 66-year-old British man lost his life while diving at Cirkewwa on Saturday morning.

Police said that they were informed at around 11am that a diver was in difficulty and had been taken ashore by people that were with him.

The man received medical assistance at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital. Police said that he passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing, while an inquiry has been appointed by Magistrate Joe Mifsud LL.D.
