The Nationalist Party has accused the Government of “continuing to neglect” soldiers stationed at Mgarr, Gozo.

The PN, in a statement, highlighted the fact that for several years, soldiers stationed in Mgarr, have been promised a new location to which they would be relocated. “So far, this has remained nothing but empty promises,” it said.

“The current site’s condition could not be worse, with even basic sanitary needs not being adequately addressed. These are humiliating conditions that are unacceptable for anyone,” stated the PN.

The Nationalist Party argued that “it is shameful how Minister Byron Camilleri and Minister Clint Camilleri have completely ignored these soldiers despite various appeals, broken promises, and cancelled appointments with those who simply wish to serve their country like anyone else.”

The PN claimed that “in contrast to the Labour Government, which is solely focused on internal strife, a new Nationalist Government would meet with constituted bodies and trade unions to find an alternative location within Mgarr itself.”

“We understand that such an alternative location has already been proposed several times, and a new PN Government would be ready to fulfil its duty to the members of the Army and ensure that they have the working conditions they deserve,” the Nationalist Party concluded.

The statement was signed by Alex Borg Shadow Minister for Gozo and Darren Carabott Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, Security, and Reforms.
