A man and a woman were both taken to the Gozo General Hospital earlier today after falling two storeys in an apartment block.
The incident was reported at around 7.15am in Triq ir-Rabat, Zebbug, Gozo. Police said that preliminary investigations revealed that a 29-year old Serbian man allegedly fell into the shaft of the block, while a 34-year-old woman fell from the balcony into the yard.
A medical team assisted at the scene before they were taken to hospital. The man was later certified as suffering from serious injuries, while the woman sustained grievous injuries.
Magistrate Simone Grech appointed an inquiry.
Police investigations are ongoing into the circumstances that led to the injuries.

I am sure that many of you must ask how come so many get injured or lose their lives because f a fall in the shaft. And I ask? Cannot our architects design some safety features for these blessed shafts who has claimed so many lives? A metal grid every 6 feet with a door to go through if need be. I don’t know but I am sure that if one studies the falls one can creat some safty nets to stop this from happenning again and again.
