The Santa Cecilia Foundation of Gozo has announced its annual operatic and classical concert with the theme this year of – The Best of Mozart.

This concert will take the audience on a journey with the world-renowned composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, during which classical and popular music of this composer will be performed. A composer who left a strong mark on the operatic and classical scene of the 18th century.

Musical pieces to be be performed will be among others, the overture from the famous opera ‘Don Giovanni,’ a opera in two acts that Mozart wrote in 1787 and which is considered one of the best operas both by him and in the operatic world; the Laudate Dominum and the Ave Verum Corpus, the Adagio in Clarinet in A, and Hai Già Vinta La Causa from the opera ‘The Marriage of Figaro.’

Soprano Rosabelle Bianchi and baritone Joseph Lia will participate together with the Foundation’s orchestra, under the artistic and musical direction of Antoine Mercieca.

The concert will take place on Friday, the 8th of November in the Cathedral of the Assumption, the Citadel Gozo, starting at 7:30pm.

This concert is sponsored by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning; entry is free and no tickets are required.

At the conclusion of the concert, a collection will be made in aid of Puttinu Cares, as it is now the Foundation’s practice to make a collection at each concert in aid of an entity that does good in our society.
