Tuesday blood donation session in Gozo, all groups needed

Blood typesAll blood types are currently needed, and the National Blood Donation Service is calling on everyone to please make time to donate in Gozo at the next session.

Did you know that men can donate blood every 3 months whilst women can do so every 4 months. The NBTS said that “your consistent donations are crucial in maintaining a steady blood supply.”

When planning to donate blood, the Service advised to please make sure to have a light meal before. “It is important to avoid fatty food and XL meals.”

The entire blood donation process takes about an hour, but the actual blood draw is only 8-10 minutes long, the Service said “It’s safe, simple, and saves lives.”

The Service continues to encourage Gozitans to please keep attending donation sessions to help the patients in need get the necessary blood in a timely manner.

The next session in Gozo will be, Tuesday, the 12th of November, from 1pm until 5pm, at the Xewkija Community Clinic.

“Your cooperation and generosity are greatly appreciated as always,” the Service said.

The centre is located at the Xewkija Community Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.

Important notes from the National Blood Transfusion Service

• Bring your Maltese ID Card, driving licence or passport.

• Drink some water before your donation and have a light snack.

• Wear loose fitting clothes/sleeves.
