National Statistics Office data has revealed that total teaching and non-teaching staff in formal education institutions during academic year 2022-2023 totalled 20,161, increasing by 3.1% when compared to the previous academic year.

Of this figure, the number of teaching staff in state, church and private schools amounted to 10,336.

The NSO noted that the largest share of teaching staff were females, at 66.0%.

Teaching staff in state-run institutions corresponded to 70.0% of the total teaching staff.
