The Deaf Achiever – was the title of a conference organised by the Gozo Association for the Deaf at the Hotel Ta’ Cenc, in Sannat.

The Association explained that the focal point of the conference was the necessity of adequate support to be given so that deaf students are able to exploit all their potentials in order to achieve success in their lives, both in education and socially.

This conference was aimed at educators in state and Church schools, as well as other stakeholders involved in the education of deaf children and students.

Among the points discussed were the challenges the students face while learning, the acoustic condition of the classrooms, the impact of language development that affects the capacity when it comes to accessing the curriculum and technology that helps deaf students understand speech more clearly especially in a noisy environment.

This conference was made possible with the support of funds obtained by the Gozo Association for the Deaf from the MCVS Small Initiative Support Schemes.
