Camilleri and Bartolo admonished by Standards CommitteeGozo Minister Clint Camilleri and Clayton Bartolo have been admonished by the Parliamentary Committee on Standards in Public Life.

The meeting was held on Wednesday morning based on the adoption of the Commissioner for Standards’ report.

Bartolo will also have to make a formal apology in Parliament, while his wife Amanda Muscat has refunded the difference in money as calculated by the Principal Permanent Secretary, Tony Sultana, of approximately €16,400, the Speaker said.

During the meeting the Opposition presented motions demanding the resignation of Clint Camilleri as Minister, and that Bartolo should be suspended as an MP for 30 days. In addition a motion called for Muscat to refund the full amount earned as a consultant at the Gozo Ministry. All the motions were voted down by the Speaker with his casting vote.

The Government members of the committee read excerpts from Clint Camilleri’s statement, where, they said “he showed respect for the report by the Commissioner for Standards,” and that he “will work to make changes to the current manual.”
