O + and O- blood donations needed urgently, next Gozo session is Sunday

Donations of the O Positive and O Negative blood groups are needed urgently, the National Blood Transfusion Service warned that there is a risk of cancelling operations if the reserve does not improve.
The NBTS Service is calling on everyone to please make time to donate, and in Gozo the next session is on Sunday All other blood groups are also needed.
The entire blood donation process takes about an hour, but the actual blood draw is only 8-10 minutes long, the Service said “It’s safe, simple, and saves lives.”
The Service continues to encourage Gozitans to please keep attending donation sessions to help the patients in need get the necessary blood in a timely manner.
The NBTS also advised that is has updated the donor eligibility guidelines removing restrictions on a number of medications. For more information on donor eligibility please call on 22066201 or 79307307 or on free phone 80074313?.
The next session in Gozo will be, Sunday, the 15th of December, from 8am until 1pm, at the Xewkija Community Clinic.
“Your cooperation and generosity are greatly appreciated as always,” the Service said.
The centre is located at the Xewkija Community Clinic, in Triq tall- Hamrija, between the Primary School and the Bocci Club.
Important notes from the National Blood Transfusion Service
• Bring your Maltese ID Card, driving licence or passport.
• Drink some water before your donation and have a light snack, not a heavy meal.
• Wear loose fitting clothes/sleeves.
