A motorcyclist has been critically injured after being involved in a collision with a car on Sunday evening in Gozo.

Police said that the accident happened at around 8.30pm in Mgarr Road, Xewkija.

The motorcyclist, a 45-year old man from Sannat, was riding a Benelli motorcycle, when he collided with a Toyota Tercel being driven by an 86-year old man from Xewkija.

The motorcyclist was taken to the Gozo General Hospital, where he was certified to have sustained critical injuries.

Magistrate Brigitte Sultana was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
