In November, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was 2.1%, down from 2.4 per cent in October, the National Statistics Office said today.

The NSO noted that the highest annual inflation rates in November were recorded in education (4.8%) and transport (4.3%), exactly the same as the previous month.

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in communication (-4.5%) and clothing and footwear (-1.8%).

The largest upward contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the Food and non-alcoholic beverages Index (+0.61 percentage points) this was largely due to the higher prices of milk, the NSO said.

The NSO said that the largest downward contribution was recorded in the Communication Index (-0.17 percentage points) mainly reflecting the lower prices of mobile phone services.

The 12-month moving average rate for November stood at 2.6 per cent.
