December’s unemployment rate remains stable at 3.0%

December’s unemployment rate was 3.0%, this was at par with the previous four months, the National Statistics Office said today. The figure was down by 0.2 percentage points on December 2023.
The number of unemployed persons was 10,075, increasing by 2.5% from the previous month and decreasing by 1.1% on the same period of 2023.
The NSO noted that the 25 to 74 age group was once again the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment at 6,779 – 67.3%. The figure for unemployed youths amounted to 3,296 – 32.7%.
The unemployment rate for males was 3.0%, on par with November, while the rate for females stood at 3.0% increasing by 0.1 percentage points when compared to the previous month.
The unemployment rate during December for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 10.5% while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.2%.
