The Malta School Games initiative was inaugurated on Wednesday, which align with the National Strategy – promoting inclusion, teamwork and continuous development, the Government said.

These inter-school games were launched by Minister for Education Clifton Grima. The programme provides over 2500 students from 28 schools in Malta and Gozo the opportunity to participate in competitive and structured sport in different disciplines.

These include Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Football, Netball and Rugby. These games involve the participation of Primary and Secondary students from State, Independent and Church schools.

It was explained that this confirms the Government manifesto to “strengthen inter-school games, and that the well-being of students would be improved through structured sports activities and competitions. A measure aimed at the well-being of students so that they are nurtured from an early age in physical activity and sport.”
