Latest data from the National Statistics Office show that last month, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the RPI was 1.4%, up from 1.2% in December.

The highest annual inflation rates in January were registered in other goods and services (3.7%) and personal care and health (3.4%).

The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in furnishings and household equipment (-0.6%) and water, electricity, gas and fuels (0.0%).

The largest contribution to the overall annual inflation was measured in the personal care and health index (+0.30 percentage points), largely due to higher prices for items of personal hygiene, the NSO said.

While the largest downward contribution was recorded in the furnishings and household equipment index (-0.04 percentage points), mainly reflecting lower prices of household appliances, the NSO said.

The 12-month moving average rate for January stood at 1.5%.
