Today, the first Sunday of Lent, at 4pm, the Bishop of Gozo Anton Teuma will lead a Jubilee Penitential Pilgrimage with the image of the Miraculous Crucifix, from the Church of St. Anthony of Padova in Ghajnsielem, to the Archpriestly Church of Our Lady of Loreto, in Ghajnsielem, to which all the people of God are invited.
The Gozo Diocese said that all will gather together – all of Gozo – to make the Jubilee Pilgrimage: “we will all walk – priests, religious and lay people – following Jesus Crucified.”
There will be a precious celebration in which everyone will listen to the Word of God and give Community Adoration to the Holy Cross. On that day, each parish will organise transport to the Church of St. Anthony, so that everyone can participate, The Diocese said.
No Masses will take place today in the parishes and other churches of Gozo between 4pm and 7pm.
The Ghajnsielem Local Council encourages local residents where possible to come by foot. There will be a no parking zone from St Anthony’s Church towards Triq Hamri and to the Square including in front of clubs and in front of the school. The village centre will be traffic-free
