The visitor lift at the Cittadella in Victoria, Gozo, is “expected to start functioning in the coming days,” said Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri.

The lift has not been working for some considerable time, causing problems and inconvenience to anyone needing it to access the Cathedral, the Courts and the Cittadella itself.

The Minister was replying to a Parliamentary Question as to when the lift would be repaired and available to use, which was tabled by Opposition MP Chris Said

Camilleri said that Cittadella lift is being repaired by the Eleva Lifts company after it was damaged in a storm.

“Extensive works have been carried out and are still being carried out, including the replacement of the electrical system and the pump motor,” the Minister said.

He added that €23,126.90 has been spent on machinery so far. “It is expected that the lift will start functioning in the coming days.”
