The online seat sale of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, set to return to Gozo on the 11th of October, has been announced by Gozo’s Teatru tal-Opra Aurora.
The last Forza performed in Gozo, was also hosted at the Aurora, in 2007. Staple as ever, Colin Attard takes the platform in the pit, conducting the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and the Aurora Opera Chorus together with an international cast that will be announced in due course.
Local opera lovers had their love for this Verdian masterpiece reignited when it was presented at Milan’s La Scala theatre last winter, and broadcast all over the world – the night of St Ambrose, on the 7th of December when Milan’s famed theatre opens its opera season.
The Theatre said that the in/famous title, associated with all sorts of lucks and charms, so much so it earned the nickname of l’innominabile – the one who shall not be named – is set to return in a highly anticipated production, designed by stage director Riccardo Buscarini.
He returns to the Aurora with La Forza for a third consecutive time, following Madama Butterfly (2023) and Il Trittico (2024). He is set to build on these previous successful stagings, this time with a new creative team comprising Giammaria Farina (set design), Mara Pieri (costume design) and Moritz Zavan Stoeckle (lighting design).
La Forza del Destino runs for just one night, on the 11th of October, opening the “Opera-is-Gozo” season.
With the first spell of tickets usually running fast, the Theatre has now launched the online sales. They go for €90, €75 or €55 with Premium Boxes for 4 persons for €500.00 inclusive of champagne and butler service.
Tickets may be purchased via the ticket helpline +35679045779, by email on teatruaurora@leone.org.mt or via the official website www.teatruaurora.com/box-office.
La Forza del Destino at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora is supported by the Investment in Cultural Organisations – Gozo programme by Arts Council Malta in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo.
