February’s unemployment rate stood at 2.7%, the National Statistics Office said today. The figure was down by 0.1 percentage points on February. It was down by 0.7 percentage points on the same month last year.

The number of unemployed persons was 9,076, a decrease of 4.5% from the previous month and decreasing by 18.8% on the same period in 2024.

The NSO noted that the 25 to 74 age group was once again the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment at 6,390 – 70.4%. The figure for unemployed youths amounted to 2,686 – 29.6%.

The unemployment rate for males stood at 2.8%, decreasing by 0.1 percentage points on January. Female unemployment rate was 2.5%, down by 0.3 percentage points on the previous month.

The unemployment rate during February for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 9.0%, down 0.3 percentage points, while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.1%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point when compared to January.
