Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri has announced that the sixth edition of the annual ‘Science in the Citadel’ event will be held this year, on Sunday, the 27th of April, from 10am to 6pm in the Citadel area, Gozo.

The ‘Springtime in Gozo’ programme will open on Friday, the 25th of April and will run until the 18th of May.

The Minister said that “for the spring season, through the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry, we have prepared a varied programme of activities spread over three weeks, featuring events that highlight the cultural diversity and traditions of our island.”

He added that “among the attractions are the Memories concert, the Fireworks Festival, the Gozo Spring Fair and Qalb il-Frawli. For those who love science, the Science in the Citadel activity will be building on previous years and offering an interactive experience that combines education with entertainment.”

This event aims to promote education and engagement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among the public and visitors can participate in interactive exhibitions, hands-on activities, and demonstrations showcasing the latest scientific research and technological innovations.

The event is welcoming participants from all spheres of science. This year too there will be stands showcasing the 3D printing process, another stand related to Robotics by the European Institute for Emerging Technologies, a stand on Astronomy, and another exhibition put on by women who have made a name for themselves and a career in STEM.

There will be no shortage of various workshops, a treasure hunt with a scientific and cultural twist, meetings with researchers and industry experts. While inviting everyone to visit Gozo at this beautiful time of year, Minister Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that the events planned for spring are a testament to Gozo’s vibrant cultural heritage which continues to augur well for the coming summer.

‘Science in the Citadel’ is a free festival for the whole family organised by the EcoGozo Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning and which attracts visitors from all over Malta and Gozo.
