Tomorrow, Tuesday, the 22nd of April, Archbishop Charles Scicluna will celebrate a Requiem Mass for His Holiness Pope Francis at 6:30pm at St. John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, after he returned to the Father’s house early this morning at the age of 88.
The Archdiocese said that everyone is invited to attend this celebration so that “the Lord may welcome Pope Francis into his bosom and grant him the fullness of peace, love and joy with him in heaven. Diocesan and religious priests are also invited to concelebrate at this Mass.”
The Mass will be broadcast on TVM+, Knisja.mt and Newsbook Malta.
On behalf of the Church in Malta, Archbishop Charles Scicluna said, “as the Catholic Church is currently celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we must entrust the soul of His Holiness Pope Francis to the mercy of God. We must continue to remember the Pope as the great missionary of the Lord’s mercy because his pastoral care has always been to be close to those in need of God’s mercy.”
The Archdiocese said that from today until the day of His Holiness’ funeral, all churches in Malta will ring their bells in greeting and thanksgiving for the service that Pope Francis gave to Christ, the Catholic Church and all humanity.
From tomorrow, there will be a book of condolences at the Apostolic Nunciature for Malta in Tal-Virtu, Rabat.
