ADPD-The Green Party said in a statement that St George’s Square in Victoria, Gozo, is where “selfishness reigns with the blessing of the Ministers.”

“What happened in this square last Wednesday, where tables and chairs blocked the square for people and even for emergency vehicles, shows not only how insensitive we have become towards others but above all how irresponsible the authorities are,” stated ADPD.

It insisted that, “all that matters is money and it is made at all costs.”

The Party argued that “there is no authority to protect the suffering. Because despite knowing about the abuse, they remain with their eyes closed. In this case it was an elderly man who suffered a heart attack. When will a decision be made by the authorities on what is happening? Is business more important than people’s lives?”

ADPD-The Green Party Chairperson Sandra Gauci said, “we saw the same thing in Valletta where an ambulance once, twice, three times, could not pass to help those in need. At a time when everyone went to the Pope’s funeral, I think this hypocrisy would have been glaring. Between your life and money, the choice has already been made, and money at all costs is the message that the Ministers and authorities are giving.”

She concluded by saying, “do as you please and violate the rights of others, the best way to earn a lira. St George’s Square, Victoria, Gozo – where selfishness reigns with the blessing of the Ministers. Shame on them.”
