A 73-year old female car passenger was grievously injured in a traffic accident on Friday afternoon in Gozo.

Police said that the accident the accident occurred at around 5pm in Triq ix-Xaghra, Xaghra.

Preliminary investigations found that a collision had occurred between a Hyundai being driven by a 74-year old man from Xaghra with a 73-year old female passenger, and a Nissan driven by a 33 year-old Albanian national.

A medical team provided first assistance at the scene before they were all taken to the Gozo General hospital. The two men were later certified as suffering from slight injuries while the woman was certified with grievous injuries.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
