The Gozo University Group has recently presented a number of proposals regarding the Gozitan Students Maintenance Grant based on a survey conducted amongst the Gozitan students.
GUG said that the results of the survey show that the system is in need of a change. GUG proposed that:
1. The sum is to be revised and given at least an addition based on the COLA.
2. The grant rather than sent as a cheque can be directly transferred a bank account.
3. The sum is to be handed monthly; as the rent is payable every month.
The students remarked the grant is falling short of the expenses related to rent and transport. With around 95% of the students state that the grant should start to be adjusted with Cost of Living Adjustment.
The GUG said that it is concerned with the results of this survey and believes that such issues need to be addressed.
A summary of the findings of the survey is available online here.
