214 traffic accidents reported during first quarter in Gozo

There were 214 reported traffic accidents in Gozo during the first quarter of this year, up by 6 or 2.9% on 2024, the National Statistics Office said today. No fatalities were reported in Gozo.
Of the 214 accidents, 186 were reported as non-injury road traffic accidents, up by 11 on 202, or 6.3%. There were 28 reported with injuries involved, down by 5 on last year, or -15.2%.
Victoria once again recorded the highest number of accidents with 71, this was followed by Xewkija with 37, Ghajnsielem 34 and Nadur 19.
Also in Gozo – Fontana, Ghasri, Munxar, Qala, and San Lawrenz all registered less than five road traffic accidents.
On a national basis, during the fist quarter there were four road traffic fatalities involving three males and one females.
Road traffic accidents during the same period decreased by 9.0% and casualties decreased by 11.9% when compared to the same period in 2024.
The NSO noted that between January and March, the highest number of road traffic accidents occurred on Fridays with 564 cases or 16.3% of the total.
Birkirkara registered the highest number of road traffic accidents at 215 cases.
