Victoria Local Council Mayor Brian Azzopardi has said that “little by little we are bringing Independence Square back to the way it deserves to be.”
Writing on social media, the Victoria Mayor said that the project started with the renovation of the perimeter around Banca Giuratale by adding plants, bollards, as well as repairing tiles and a number of gratings.
“With the assistance of the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, a CCTV system will be installed around the entire perimeter of Banca Giuratale. The two public toilets that we have in the vicinity, the men’s and the women’s, will be removed and repaired,” said Mayor Azzopardi.
He added that a number of bollards have been ordered for the entire perimeter of the square and should arrive soon. After the summer the Council will also be replacing all the tiles within the square.
The Mayor concluded by saying that the ground lighting has been fixed outside the Banca and are now back on after many, many months of being turned off.
