Gozo registers 12.7% decrease in number of new dwellings approved in Q1 Data from the National Statistics Office today has revealed that Gozo registered an decrease of 12.7% in the number of new dwellings approved in the first quarter of this year, totalling 350.

Xaghra had the highest number of approved new dwellings on Gozo, with 79.

Other Gozo localities were Ghajnsielem 61, Nadur 52, Victoria 36, Zebbug(which includes Marsalforn) 32, Kercem 23, Qala 21, Xewkija 16, Sannat 11, Munxar (which includes Xlendi) 8, Fontana 5, San Lawrenz 5, Gharb 1 and there were none recorded for Ghasri.

On a national basis, during the first quarter of this year 425 building permits for a total of 2,143 new dwellings were approved.

When compared to the same quarter of 2024, the number of approved new dwellings decreased by 17.4%.

When compared to Q1 2024, the number of new dwellings approved in Malta decreased by 18.3%.

The NSO noted that apartments made up 72.3% of the total number of approved new dwellings.
