The JP2 Cultural Foundation of Gozo is hosting an Italian Choir, to perform one concert in Gozo and three in Malta.

The “Schola Cantorum Trichianensis” is the main choir of the parish of Trichiana, Region of Veneto, Province of Belluno, North of Italy.

It is composed of a dozen elements, directed by Maestro Federico Cortina and accompanied on the organ by Maestro Sebastiano Sitta.

The Foundation explained that the choir offers liturgical service every Sunday and on other major solemnities, both leading the Assembly and performing more demanding music, from Gregorian chant to Renaissance polyphony to embrace a more modern repertoire, to embellish the religious rite and elevate the spirit of believers.

In this sense, the Schola Trichianensis has also participated in sacred music concerts.

The JP2 Cultural Foundation said that it took this opportunity, while this choir is visiting Gozo to remember His Holiness Pope Francis on his 2nd month of his passing. Therefore, the guest choir will be performing during this commemoration “In Memoriam” on Thursday, the 26th of June, at St. Paul’s Shipwreck Parish Church in Munxar, starting at 7.30pm.
