Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri visited various infrastructural works being carried out in Victoria, including Triq l-Ewropa, where work has begun to lay tarmac in front of the Sports and Aquatics Pavilion, which, he said, “has now also reached its final stages before it gradually opens for the enjoyment of Gozitan sportspeople.”
The Minister stated that “a number of works are underway around the island of Gozo, including with a particular focus in Victoria, to provide the necessary upgrade in terms of services. On Triq l-Ewropa in front of the Aquatic and Sports Centre, we have carried out a number of services related to the use of the same centre.”
“He added that, “we are also going through a programme with short timeframes, carrying out works, a total upgrade of the roads in the centre of Victoria, and here we are also carrying out works on bypasses of two important roads, Triq l-Imghlem, Triq ta’ wara s-sur as well as Triq Gorg Pisani, to facilitate the traffic issue in Victoria as much as possible, providing alternative roads so that one does not have to pass through the centre of Victoria to get to Marsalforn.”
He added that in the coming days, works on main roads will continue to intensify in order to improve infrastructure and services on the island of Gozo. “This commitment is clearly visible as significant projects are being completed and started at a rapid pace, thus improving the quality of life of all Gozitans,” he said.
The Minister also announced the successful completion of works on Triq Santa Dminka, Victoria. “This road is now completely finished, asphalted, and complete with new signs, and has been reopened to traffic. As planned, Triq Arturo Mercieca has now been closed so that work can begin on it. In addition, work is continuing at a rapid pace on Triq l-Ewropa and the new Triq Gorg Pisani,. These projects include not only the laying of new tarmac, but also crucial improvements to underground infrastructure such as drainage and water supply, as well as stormwater management solutions.”
Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri stressed that, “the extensive works being carried out across Gozo reflect our vision to make positive changes that will have a direct impact on the quality of life of all Gozitans. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Gozo has the infrastructure it deserves.”
