Over 18,000 have now been vaccinated against (A) H1N1 virusThe Health Department has announced that over the last 24 hours, another 6000 people have been vaccinated agains the (A) H1N1 virus. This now brings the total to 18,234.

There was also a sharp increase in requests to the MMDNA to provide vaccinations at home to the people unable to get out and about. The demand has been much higher than expected.

The Health Department said that it had come to their attention that people were requesting this service even though they could walk. This is due to them not being able to get transport to visit their local health clinics.

This now means that the requests for the MMDNA is creating a backlog and there will be delays in the vaccination process.

Therefore to avoid the delays, the Health Department is urging only people who are really unable to leave their homes, to request this service, and encourages the family of elderly people, who with a little help, will be able to attend their nearest health clinic, so they can immediately be vaccinated.
