Health Authorities have advised that Xlendi Bay is now fit for swimming, it had been closed since the 22nd of June.
The Environmental Health Directorate said that following repeated sampling over the past days of seawater from the areas indicated above, the bay is confirmed fit for bathing and the warning has been lifted.
The warning followed the rainfall on the 20th of June, runoff water from the Xlendi valley, which was carried down from Victoria and several other localities in central Gozo, took with it soil and deposits from the valley that have continued to flow into the sea.
The Environment Health Directorate said at the time that the quality of the bathing water “may have been affected, posing a potential risk to public health.”
