Momentum has highlighted the sad reality that “Xlendi’s character has been destroyed over the past 12 years, as can be witnessed in these satellite pictures.”
The Party noted that PN leader Alex Borg gave the country a big scare when he stated that he “could be in favour of high-rises in certain areas of Gozo. Fortunately, three days later he corrected himself and told us to carefully read his lips.”
Momentum General Secretary Mark Camilleri Gambin said, “we are happy to take Dr. Borg’s word on his second statement rather than the first. Now is the moment of truth. Joseph Portelli and Co want to build a 13 storey high-rise building in Xlendi.”
He questioned whether Alex Borg would be out in the streets to “lead the protests against this new scar inflicted to Gozo.”
Mark Camilleri Gambin stated that “Momentum would be the first to join Alex Borg’s protests.”

Too much building, too big in scale, too high, and too much hype in all. We went there for many years, No Go anymore with us now. It used to be tranquil and relaxing until the 90ies. Lovely Ulysses Village on Xlendi Heights has been ruined by changing the architecture especially on the street front. New Villa Marni is four levels instead of two, breeching the existing building rules – Corruption of Planning Authority? Is there no taste and sense for environmental quality in Gozo? Only the max. profit moneywise counts ? Poor Gozo. NoGo area anymore. Therapy: BACKBUILDING and RENATURING !
Highrise not acceptable anyway, of course.
