Last year, commuter workers were predominantly Gozo residents working in the Malta region, accounting to 4,935 employed persons, the National Statistics Office said.

This implied that approximately one out of every five employed persons resident in Gozo worked in the Malta region and 54.7% were males.

Gozo residents working on a full-time basis in Malta region totalled 4,166, of which, 56.8% were males, the National Statistics Office said.

In 2024, full-time employment in Gozo reached 14,834, an increase of 5.5% over 2023. In Malta the figure stood at 276,640, an increase of 3.4% over 2023.

The NSO noted that in 2024, Gozo residents with a full-time job totalled 19,554, reflecting an increase of 5.9% when compared to 2023. The private sector accounted to 68.5% of the total

Total employed persons in Malta amounted to 326,678, an increase of 3.7% when compared to the previous year.
