Teams from the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) bird protection camps on Gozo and Malta have “caught and reported three people for poaching.”
CABS said that one man was hunting in a protected area where hunting is forbidden.
The CABS team also used video evidence to report a man who shot a kestrel in front of a mixed team of Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) staff and members of BirdLife Malta, it said.
CABS said that “the video shows him stashing the bird – the police found blood and feathers on the jacket of the alleged shooter.”
The third case involved a bird trapper who operated a wader trapping site on Gozo. CABS said that the police were notified and quickly attended, seizing the nets and several decoy devices.
However, CABS stated that “the perpetrator was furious and verbally abused the CABS team, with a torrent of death threats.”
