VisitMalta has announce its support of the internationally acclaimed Rolex Middle Sea Race 2025. Considered one of the world’s most prestigious offshore yacht races, over 120 yachts will set sail from the Grand Harbour in Malta to circumnavigate Sicily along an anticlockwise route.

The 2025 edition promises to bring an atmosphere unlike any other across Valletta and the Three Cities.

Spectators are invited to witness the spectacular start of the race on Saturday, the 18th of October, and take part in an unforgettable celebration of maritime sport, Maltese culture, and Mediterranean hospitality.

Coastal Yacht Race: Wednesday, 15 October, at 9am – Marsamxett Harbour

Rolex Middle Sea Race Start: Saturday, 18 October, at 11am – Grand Harbour

VisitMalta said that the official race start will be an extraordinary spectacle, featuring seven different yachting class starts, each sounded by the cannons of the Saluting Battery at 10-minute intervals.

The first start is at 11am. The starting line, stretching between the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta and Fort St Angelo in Birgu, is among the most iconic and photogenic race starts in the sailing world.

Celebrations in Valletta and Birgu – 18th October

The Grand Harbour area will come alive with historic pageantry and live performances:

Valletta: The In Guardia Reenactment Troupe will march between the Grandmasters’ Palace and Upper Barrakka Gardens.

Birgu: The Jackson Pipe Band will perform between 9:30am and 10:30am below Fort St Angelo.

Birgu: Bormla Scouts will parade along the waterfront from Birgu to Fort St Angelo between 10:30am and 12:30am

Birgu: In Guardia Reenactors will stand at attention atop the walls of Fort St Angelo, flying the colours of the Knights of St John.

Heritage Malta Invites the public to two prestigious Forts

In celebration of the Rolex Middle Sea Race, Heritage Malta is offering exclusive access on 18th of October:

Fort St Elmo, Valletta – Enjoy half-price entry. This elevated viewing point provides a unique perspective of the race, while the War Museum offers a journey through Malta’s maritime history from prehistoric times to the present.

Fort St Angelo, Birgu – Experience the thrill of the race from this commanding fortress. An exclusive VIP area for 100 guests will be set up from 10am to 12pm, offering unrivalled views, an open bar, a selection of food items, and admission to the Fort.
