Prime Minister Robert Abela, speaking during a political activity in Cospicua on Sunday morning, stressed that the government will guarantee hobbies, sports and Maltese traditions, saying that a process is ongoing for the entrenchment of the protection of traditions in the Constitution.

He stressed that, “we will remain the guarantor of Maltese hobbies, sports and traditions. We will be enshrining the protection of our traditions in the highest law of the land, the Constitution.”

The Prime Minister argued that “the environment should not be embroiled with traditions,” adding that the government had launched a Green Paper “to listen to the people’s views on environment.”

Dr Abela also announced that “just as we helped musical societies that were at risk of being evicted, for band clubs that have commercial loans we will introduce an aid scheme for them to provide them with assistance on the payment of interest.”
