Almost 3,800 individuals reported domestic violence in 2024The National Statistics Office has reported that in 2024, 3,798 individuals reported experiencing domestic violence or made use of services available within this area.

It noted that the Gozo and Comino district reported the lowest rates of both service users and domestic violence reports per 1,000 residents.

On a national basis, when compared to 2023, persons making use of such services during the reference year increased by 5.7% in 2024.

The NSO said that of the persons making use of services offered to persons experiencing domestic violence, 76.0% were females.

During 2024, 535 persons made use of services available for perpetrators, the NSO advised that 93.6″ were males.

The NSO advised that data for 2024 includes the ‘Stop!’ programme and the ‘Child to Parent Violence’ service both provided by Agenzija Appogg, the Department of Probation and Parole, and the Correctional Services Agency.

The majority of users of perpetrator services were male, with ‘Stop!’, the Department and Probation and Parole, and the Correctional Services Agency recording over 94% of their service users being male perpetrators.

The ‘Child to parent Violence’ service saw the largest percentage of female service users at just under a fifth (17.4%). When looking at the unique number of persons using any service targeting perpetrators, 535 individuals used one or more services during 2024
