National Statistics Office data released today show that the number of registered unemployed in October increased by 53 persons over the same period last year to 1,142. This was also up on the 1,086 recorded in September

The figures revealed that males accounted for 67.2%, or 767 of the total registrants, while females accounted for the remaining 32.8% or 375 registrants.

The most significant rise in registered unemployment was recorded among individuals aged 25-29, whereas a slight decrease was observed in those aged 45 years and over, the NSO said.

The NSO noted that increases in the registered unemployment levels were recorded in the majority of age groups.

The number of persons with a disability registering for work went down by 17 persons over the same period in 2024 at 217. Males accounted for 73.7% of total registrants with a disability.

Clerical support jobs remained the most common occupations sought by both male and female registered unemployed.
