The Police have arrested a 51-year old British man at the Malta International Airport after he was found in possession of more than 19 kilogrammes of substance suspected to be Khat, with an estimated market value of around €8,000.

The man was stopped by Customs officers upon his arrival on a flight from Amsterdam and during a search of his luggage, Police found 100 packets containing the suspected substance.

A Magisterial Inquiry has been opened. Police investigations are ongoing.

The man is expected to be brought before the court later today.
